And the word of the LORD came to me, saying, "Jeremiah, what do you see?"
And I said, "I see an almond branch."
Then the LORD said to me, "You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it." (Jer 1:11-12)

Known as the alert & watchful tree, the naked almond tree awakens from its winter slumber and clothes itself in light pink blossoms that turn white as snow before falling to the ground within 5 to 14 days. Bees deliver pollen to the blossoms. Following fertilization, firstfruits begin to hastily emerge from the calyx and reach their maximum size over a course of several weeks. During this first harvest, a few firstfruits are chosen (about 1%); most remain on the tree to mature in the summer heat. The flesh of the fruit withers in the summer heat and exposes the seed inside that we know as the almond.
