Ironically, the Hebrew root identifies with the olive tree... a tree that is self-pollinated by the wind, a tree that produces fruit so bitter it is not palatable raw, a tree that contains a seed that is as hard as stone. And let's not forget about its oil… oil that comes forth from the flesh.
Yet, according to Isaiah, the Branch will come forth from the root of Jesse. In contrast to the bitter (H4784 - rebellious) fruit of the olive tree, the Righteous Branch produces the fruit of FAITHFULNESS… the fruit of RIGHTEOUSNESS and JUSTICE (Isa 11:1-5, Jer 23:55, Jer 33:15).

To understand the true root more clearly, it is important to learn from the tutor. The tabernacle in the wilderness serves as a powerful teaching tool and parable. The tabernacle in the wilderness represents an orchard in the wilderness, for men are as trees. In the midst of the orchard in the wilderness stood a “tree” that produced the fruit of light… referring to the lamp (aka menorah) in the holy place. In paying close attention to the details, it is interesting to find that the “root” of the “tree” that was “planted” in the tabernacle in the wilderness was NOT that of an “olive tree”. Rather Moses was instructed to “plant” a “budding and blossoming ALMOND tree” lamp (aka menorah) in the holy place.
Make no mistake… the instructions given to Moses for constructing the lamp (aka menorah) in the holy place depict a “budding and blossoming ALMOND tree”. Not an olive tree.

The instructions for constructing the lamp in the holy place (aka menorah) included intricate detail… extremely significant detail. The detail depicts a golden, "budding and blossoming ALMOND tree" lamp producing the fruit of light. In the kingdom of יהוה, like kind produces like kind. If a branch has almond blossoms on it, then such branch is an almond branch of an almond tree. In the kingdom of יהוה, one would not find an olive branch with ALMOND blossoms growing on it for יהוה does not condone mingling of seed nor mingling of kinds. All this to say, if the branches of the lamp (aka menorah) have almond blossoms, then the branches are intended to be understood as ALMOND branches… not olive branches... nor any other type of branch.
Furthermore, in the creation account, we read that the Creator created trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind. So if a tree bears almond blossoms, one would expect to eventually find the seed of an almond within its fruit. And at the base of the tree one would expect to see an almond root... which came forth from an almond seed. Thus the seed, the root, the branches and the fruit all work together as one. So what kind of root would one expect to find at the base of a "budding and blossoming almond tree" lamp?
When faithfully constructed according to יהוה’s explicit instructions, the lamp (aka menorah) in the holy place was intended to proclaim a powerful testimony of the Righteous Branch. Interestingly, except for the construction of it, only the sons of the high priest were allowed to see it (Note: The holy things were covered and concealed before the Kohathites were allowed to carry it, Num 4.) Sadly, most people gloss over the detail and discard its testimony because of the bitter olive tree doctrine and tradition that has been passed down through the years… a bitter and deceitful doctrine and tradition which has deafened ears and blinded eyes from hearing its faithful and accurate testimony and from seeing who it represents. Although the lamp (aka menorah) in the holy place could not speak, by its very design, the lamp clearly “communicated” a familiar testimony. (Remember, the lamp consisted of a center branch or shaft with branches abiding in it).
Listen carefully to the testimony of the lamp (aka menorah):

Listen carefully to the testimony of the lamp (aka menorah):
“I am the center branch (aka “vine”)... made of pure gold. I produce the fruit of light. The branches which abide in me shall also be made of pure gold… which means that they, too, must endure the refiner’s fire so that the impurities may be removed. My branches and I are beaten together as ONE. The vessels shall be filled with the golden oil that comes forth from the seed within so that the branches can produce the fruit of light.” |
A person who was well-studied in the Scriptures and understood the concept of the lamp (aka menorah) in the holy place would have immediately known what the following proclamations referred to:
"I am the light of the world.’ “Ye are the light of the world.” “I am the [branch]; you are the branches. Whoever abides in Me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.” |
Through these proclamations, the Righteous Branch was simply expounding the parable of the lamp (aka menorah) in the holy place. For it testifies of Him.
You may be thinking, “An ALMOND tree? Why an ALMOND tree?” In His amazing way, the Creator created the almond tree to bear a faithful and accurate witness of the Righteous Branch… for men are as trees and are known by their fruit. Consider the design and testimony of the almond tree:
~ watchful (H8247, H8245)… ~ first to awaken (resurrect)… ~ clothed in white blossoms (garments)… ~ pollinated by bees (H1683, H1696-command) .. ~ firstfruits… ~ flesh withers in the heat… ~ stricken… beaten… shaken… crushed but not destroyed ~ sweet, single, edible seed… ~ golden oil that comes forth from the seed. |
To be watchful is to be alert… to be on the lookout. This is consistent with the concept of guarding. The Righteous Branch watched over the commands of יהוה and guarded them to keep them pure from traditions and doctrines and lies. He was “pollinated” by His Father's commands rather than by the wind of various doctrines. He was the first to resurrect… the Firstfruit of the resurrection. He was clothed in white garments of righteousness. He did nothing of his own desires (fleshly inclinations) but only the will of His Father. He was beaten and shaken but not destroyed. Being the Seed of the Word of יהוה, He was filled with the Holy Spirit rather than the spirit of the flesh. As you can see, the Creator intentionally created the almond tree and its branches to bear a faithful witness of the Righteous Branch. The olive tree doesn't even come close; in fact, the olive tree bears a witness that is contrary to and opposes the characteristics of the faithful Righteous Branch!
Many today who have been abiding in the Hebrew root are not only rejecting the New Testament, many are also rejecting the Righteous Branch Himself. The bitter root continues to choke out the True Root. Ironically, even if they discard the New Testament, they cannot escape the same message proclaimed in the very Scriptures which they boast in adhering to. The familiar words of the Righteous Branch in the gospel accounts merely expound upon fully the message that had been communicated to those in the wilderness. In rejecting the Righteous Branch, they cling more closely to the Hebrew root and the iconic olive tree... which neither bears a faithful nor accurate witness of the Righteous Branch that came forth from the root of Jesse. And just like the olive tree, they produce the fruit of bitterness and rebellion, have hearts as hard as stone, are self-pollinated by the wind of various doctrines and are filled with the spirit that comes forth from the flesh. They continue to err because they do not understand the Scriptures nor the power of יהוה.
Which branch and root do you identify with… the branch that comes from the Hebrew root or the Righteous Branch who came forth from the root of Jesse... the Branch represented by the lamp (aka menorah) in the holy place in the wilderness? The Righteous Branch that Moses, the Prophets, Psalms and gospel accounts testify of is indeed the Branch that came forth from the Root of Jesse and bore fruit... the fruit of righteousness. Righteousness is the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins. He is the Righteous Branch. In Him shall the faithful abide.
Those who abide in the Righteous Branch will produce the same fruit… the fruit of FAITHFULNESS to the instructions of יהוה… the fruit of RIGHTEOUSNESS and JUSTICE and MERCY… the fruit of LIGHT. Like the Righteous Branch, no deceit, lies, traditions/doctrines of men will be found on their lips. That is why they will be called “trees of righteousness, a planting of יהוה, that He may be glorified”.
O taste and see that יהוה is good!
